Wutai Mountain, located at Wutai County, Shanxi Province, consists of five platform-shaped peaks as its name indicates. One of the four famous Buddhist shrines,the Wutai Mountain has a long history of Buddhism. Temples began to be built on the mountain in 68 (the 11th year of the Eastern Han Yong Ping reign). With construction going on all through the dynasties the Tang Dynasty,forming a treasure-trove of ancient Chinese architecture. These temples belong to the black and the yellow sect—representing the Han and the Tibetan Buddhism. They religion, culture and the arts. The mountain climate is cool and pleasant, therefore Wutai Mountain is also called thee Mountain of Coolness. The pleasant weather and the natural scenery make Wutai Mountain an ideal summer resort.
