Li Shizhen
李时珍
The great pharmacologist Li Shizhen of the Ming Dynasty developed the science of materia medica to a new height. In his book Compendium of Materia Medica, he gave a detailed account of the properties, flavor, origin ，shape，way of collecting，process of preparation，pathological study and prescription of each species of herbal medicine. Li corrected many mistakes in the discrimination of drugs, which had appeared in past works. He classified herbal medicines into 16 groups according to their natural origin and properties. Within each of these groups are subdivided into 60 sub¬groups, making a creative contribution to drug classification.
明代伟大的药理学家李时珍将本草科学推向新的高度。在他的书《本草纲目》中，他写下了草药的功能、气味、形状、收集方式、准备过程、和各品种药材的处方的详细说明。李时珍纠正了在过去对许多药物的误解。他根据中药自然来源和性质把其归类为16组。在每个组中，又被细分成60个亚组，为药物分类的做出了创造性的贡献。
