梅兰芳所架起的戏剧之桥
The success of Mei Lanfang's overseas performance was attributed to his long-cherished determination to reform the old Chinese drama, especially, after he had been given strong support by the Beijing Chinese Dramatic Institute. And he had also made clear his ambition of promoting international cultural exchange through the performance of Chinese dramatic art. This was indicated in his farewell speech in Shanghai before his departure for the United States, “I realize the wide cultural gap existing between China and America； however, it is my ambition to make the best of this opportunity to build a bridge over such a gap through the exchange of dramatic art. And that is why I am travelling to America with my troupe, which should serve as an essential introduction of Chinese culture. ”
梅兰芳的海外公演的成功归因于他改革旧中国戏剧的夙愿决心，尤其是他得到中国北京戏剧学院的大力支持之后。而且，他还有通过中国戏剧艺术的表演推动国际文化交流的野心。这是表示他在离开上海去美国之前的告别演说，“我意识到中国和美国之间存在着宽广的文化差距;但是，我的志向是好好利用这次机会，通过中国戏曲搭建起中美之间交流的桥梁。这就是为什么我于我的剧团去美国旅行的原因，而这应该作为一个介绍中国文化的基本点。”
