This allusion comes from History of the Three Kingdoms.
这则典故出自《三国志•诸葛亮传》。
The Biography of Zhuge Liang： In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, Liu Bei took the trouble of going to the thatched cottage of Zhuge Liang who lived as a recluse at Longzhong, asking him to quit seclusion and aid him in running the kingdom.
东汉末年，刘备遇到了一个困难，他前往隐居在隆中的诸葛亮的草房，想要请诸葛亮出山，帮助自己建立国家。
Liu was not able to see Zhuge until the third time.
刘备第三次才见到诸葛亮。
The allusion now has come to mean “repeated，sincere invitations”.
这则典故现在用来比喻“真心诚意的、一再的邀请”。
“So the Sovereign Liu Bei then decided to request Zhuge Liang who was then secluding himself in his thatched cottage in Longzhong.
“因此，刘备决定邀请隐居在隆中草庐的诸葛亮出山。
Liu Bei went there for three times, and only in the third time he got the chance to meet Zhuge Liang.”
他去了那里三次，直到最后一次才见到诸葛亮。”
The original meaning of the allusion is that Liu Bei went three times to Long Zhong to solicit Zhuge Liang to assume an important post.
这则典故的原始含义是刘备前往隆中三次，邀请诸葛亮担任重要职位。
Later, it is used to mean treating gifted persons modestly.
后来它被用来形容尊敬对待那些有天赋的人。
