The History of Chinese Pottery
中国陶器的历史
Pottery has a long history in China. It was invented in the early New Stone Age. According to archeological evidence, as early as 8 000 years ago, pottery bowls, plates, kettles, jars，stemmed cups, broad-mouthed receptacles, cooking vessels, etc. were used in people's lives as is indicated from the unearthed pottery in Peiligang Culture in Henan Province and Cishang Culture in Hebei Province. Among the articles unearthed in Cishang，a piece of pottery painted with curved pattern was discovered，the earliest painted pottery discovered in China. The subsequent more advanced earthenware unearthed represented the technique development at different phases in the New Stone Age, for example, painted pottery from Yangyun Culture, white pottery from Dawenkou Culture, black pottery from Longshan Culture, pottery of painted eggshell from Qujialing Culture, etc.
陶器在中国有着悠久的历史。它发明于早期的新石器时期。据考古证据，早在8000年前，陶器的碗、盘、壶、罐、杯茎、宽口容器、烹饪容器等出现在人们的生活中，河南省裴李岗文化和河北省蒋介石文化出土的陶器也可以证明。大多数蒋介石文化出土的物品，陶彩绘与弯曲图形被发现，这是在中国发现的最早的彩陶。随后出土的陶器代表新石器时期的不同阶段技术的发展，例如，仰韵文化的彩陶，大汶口文化的白陶，龙山文化的黑陶，屈家岭文化彩蛋陶，等等
