Yi Shot Down Ten Suns
后羿射日
The story is recorded in Huai Nan Zi.
这个故事出自《淮南子》。
“In the times of Yao, a legendary monarch in remote ancient China， ten suns appeared together in the sky.
“中国远古传说中的君主尧统治的时期，十个太阳一起出现在了空中。
They burnt crops, killed weeds and woods.
他们灼烧作物、杀死了杂草和树木。
People had nothing to eat, while various kinds of monsters and demons ran wild and killed people cruelly.
人们没有吃的东西，各种野兽和恶魔四处乱窜，残忍地杀害人类。
The monarch Yao ordered Yi, then a young and brave hunter, to kill them.
君主尧命令年轻而勇敢的射手羿来射杀它们。
Yi then killed the sharp teeth monster in the wilderness, slew the cruel dragon in the turbulent river, captured the storm demon in the Valley of Qingqiu Mountains.
于是羿在荒野中杀死了带有利牙的猛兽，在湍流的河水中杀掉了残暴的龙，在青丘山的山谷中抓住了风暴恶魔。
Then，he shot down the nine blazing suns and killed the huge rat deep under the ground.
接着，他射下了9颗炽烈的太阳又杀死了深藏在地下的巨鼠。
Finally, he cut the longest snake in Dong Ting Lake and captured the largest beast in the mulberry forest.
最后，他砍死了洞庭湖中最长的蛇，并抓住了桑树林中最大的野兽。
People were all greatly pleased and they supported Yao as the Son of the Heaven.
人们都非常开心，支持尧成为天庭的儿子。
Yi became the hero eulogized by the later generations. ”
后羿成为了为后代所称颂的英雄。”
